Aims and Objectives

We place special emphasis on the welfare and happiness of our Residents in a comfortable and safe environment, where they can retain their dignity and privacy and where their independence is encouraged.

Each Resident will have their Care Package organised and supervised by an experienced member of staff who will become their Key Worker. This package will be regularly reviewed during consultation with the Resident and their Family.

Philosophy Of Care

At Trewan House Residential Home, we believe that those people whose care and safety is entrusted to us are treated as valued members of society and are provided with a safe environment where dignity, privacy and independence are considered to be highly important and where their needs and wishes are taken account of, and their rights safeguarded.

We also believe that each individual must have their care organised and supervised by experienced members of Staff, after consultation with that Resident and other appropriate bodies. We use assessment and planning techniques within the agreed care programme to maintain and enhance the individual level of care agreed, maximising individual fulfilment.

We recognise and promote the abilities of individual Residents and value their opinions on all aspects of the running of their Home. We also recognise that Staff are a key resource that should be enabled to make their best contribution and achieve maximum job satisfaction.

Our aim is to provide the facilities and practices at Trewan House to enable the maximum effectiveness and relevance in the provision of a socially acceptable service in accordance with current practices. We believe that maximum accessibility is to be provided without stigma or discrimination on any grounds whether gender, age, race, colour, language or religion.

Meals & Mealtimes

The Times of Meals are generally:

  • Breakfast in bed, or in the Dining Room from 7am up to 10.30am

  • Lunch in the Dining Room between 12 and 2pm

  • Tea in the Dining Room between 5 and 6.30pm

  • Supper in the various Lounges between 8pm and bedtime

All meals are prepared by our own Qualified and Trained Cooks, using mostly fresh ingredients. Fresh Fruit and Vegetables are delivered 3 times per week, and all our meat is collected from a local farm shop.

For all Meals there are at least two options to choose from. There is a Protected Mealtimes Policy in place to restrict visiting to outside of these hours to let the Residents enjoy these important social times.

At Trewan House we encourage families to be involved in the care of relatives and to work with us in providing a high level of service. Comments have included: Liliane says “ I wish to thank you most sincerely for the great care you took of my mother”. Jean says “I cannot thank you enough for the care Annie received, we felt we were part of a family.” Brenda says “Never once have you shown Lilian anything but love, patience and respect.”

All Residents are admitted initially on a trial basis of 4 weeks. Should the Resident feel at any time during this period that Trewan House is not the right place for them, arrangements would be made to transfer the Resident to a more preferable environment as soon as practicable. There would be no obligation to stay, or pay for, the full 4 weeks.
